About this safari
Exchange the city pace for a day in the Limuru tea growing area. This Kiambethu Tea Farm excursion combines private road transfers from Nairobi with the farm’s scheduled hosted visitor programme, a guided forest walk and the included farm lunch. It is a countryside and food experience rather than a wildlife safari.
The hosted visit introduces tea growing and the farm’s story, followed by time in the surrounding field and forest setting. Lunch provides an unhurried break before returning to Nairobi. The programme is run by the farm and can include other visitors even though your transfers are private.
Advance booking is required and the farm currently offers its standard tours Thursday to Sunday, subject to available places. The excursion is confirmed around that schedule rather than advertised as a daily departure. Explore Kiambethu Tea Farm and request an available tea farm visiting date.

Nairobi collection and Limuru drive
Your driver collects you at approximately 9:00 am, with the exact time adjusted to your hotel and the farm’s reserved session. Travel into the Limuru area and allow a buffer for arrival before the hosted programme begins at approximately 11:00 am.
The journey itself is private to your party. The farm visit follows its own schedule and is confirmed in advance, with no assumption of walk in availability.
Hosted tea introduction and field visit
Join the farm’s hosted introduction over the included tea or coffee service. Learn about tea growing and the farm’s history, then visit the accessible field area as directed by the host. The experience provides context for the crop and landscape without presenting itself as a factory production tour.
The host leads the programme and may welcome other guests in the same session. Private exclusive hosting is not included in the standard arrangement.
Forest walk and hosted lunch
Continue with the farm guide on the scheduled indigenous forest walk, learning about the plants and their local context. The walking pace and available route depend on conditions. Return to the house or the arranged dining area for the farm’s lunch service, usually beginning around 1:00 pm.
The hosted lunch and the beverages expressly included in the farm’s confirmed programme form the meal arrangement. Dietary needs must be supplied in advance; additional orders outside that arrangement are separate.
Finish the farm programme and return
Enjoy the remaining programme at the farm before meeting your driver for the return to Nairobi. The hosted visit normally finishes during the mid afternoon, and the hotel drop off is expected around 4:00 pm depending on traffic and your location.
The tour does not include another plantation, a tea factory or additional countryside attractions. It finishes at the agreed Nairobi point without overnight accommodation.
Know before you go
This is a one day excursion with no overnight accommodation. The planning window is approximately 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and the total duration is approximately 7 hours. Allow roughly 1 to 1.5 hours each way between Nairobi and the farm, depending on your collection point and traffic. Times include neither a guarantee of traffic conditions nor a fixed wildlife viewing schedule; your collection and expected return are confirmed for your hotel and travel date.
Private transport means that your road vehicle and driver guide serve your party. Public attractions, museum galleries and scheduled host presentations may also welcome other visitors. Kiambethu currently offers standard tours Thursday to Sunday from approximately 11:00 am. Advance reservation and available places are required; check the current calendar for your date.
Expect a countryside walk with potentially damp or uneven paths. Bring comfortable walking shoes and a light layer for the cooler Limuru area, and request accessibility checks if needed.
Provide each traveller’s age, nationality, residency category and any dietary or mobility requirements before quotation. Included fees are calculated from those details, and no price is published until the trip is quoted. Your transport is private, but the farm’s hosted session may include other visitors. Wildlife sightings, weather and mountain views cannot be guaranteed. Avoid planning a tight onward flight around the estimated return time.
