About this safari
Spend a day exploring the wildlife and conservation setting of Ol Pejeta Conservancy with a private vehicle and driver guide from Nairobi. The programme combines daytime game viewing, lunch and a standard Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary visit within the conservancy’s confirmed public access arrangements.
This route follows central Kenya toward the Nanyuki area and provides a different focus from the Rift Valley day trips. Your guide introduces the conservancy’s habitats and the work associated with rhino protection, while looking for wildlife along accessible tracks. Mount Kenya may be visible in clear conditions, but the itinerary does not include a mountain hike.
Special encounters and separately booked conservancy activities are excluded. The standard package does not promise access to the northern white rhinos or an endangered species enclosure experience. Explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy and plan your private conservation day.

Your safari itinerary
Open each day to view the route, activities, meals, transport and accommodation details.
Early collection and central Kenya journey
Leave the agreed Nairobi hotel at approximately 5:30 am and head toward the Nanyuki area. The drive passes through changing central Kenya landscapes, with a comfort stop on the route. Bring a breakfast snack if required because the first included meal is lunch.
On arrival at Ol Pejeta, complete entry arrangements and discuss the sequence of the safari and sanctuary visit according to the current visitor programme.
Conservancy wildlife drive
Explore available tracks with your driver guide, looking for rhino, elephant, buffalo and other wildlife in suitable habitats. Spend time observing behaviour and learning about the relationship between wildlife management, habitat and conservation funding. The route follows conditions and actual sightings rather than a guarantee of all the Big Five.
Clear weather may open views toward Mount Kenya. There is no climb or transfer into Mount Kenya National Park on this excursion.
Lunch and Sweetwaters sanctuary
Take the included lunch at the confirmed venue or approved picnic site. Visit Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary during its available standard visiting period, with staff or the local guide introducing the resident chimpanzees and the sanctuary’s purpose.
Chimpanzees are observed within the sanctuary arrangements rather than on a wild chimpanzee tracking walk. Access is subject to current sanctuary operations, and there is no promise of behind the scenes viewing or a private animal encounter.
Final wildlife circuit and Nairobi return
Use any remaining conservancy time for a further daytime game drive before beginning the return journey. The guide allows for a comfort stop and the road travel back through central Kenya, aiming for a Nairobi drop off around 7:30 pm.
The excursion ends at the agreed hotel or residence on the same day. Northern white rhino visits, specialist tracking, guided bush walks and night drives require separate bookings and are outside this programme.
Know before you go
This is a one day excursion with no overnight accommodation. The planning window is approximately 5:30 am to 7:30 pm and the total duration is approximately 14 hours. Allow roughly 3.5 to 4.5 hours each way from Nairobi, depending on traffic and the route into the conservancy. Times include neither a guarantee of traffic conditions nor a fixed wildlife viewing schedule; your collection and expected return are confirmed for your hotel and travel date.
Private transport means that your road vehicle and driver guide serve your party. Public attractions, museum galleries and scheduled host presentations may also welcome other visitors. Confirm conservancy and sanctuary access before booking. Separately scheduled specialist activities are not part of the standard visit.
Expect an early start, several hours of road travel in each direction and a short walk at the sanctuary. Provide mobility requirements before confirmation.
Provide each traveller’s age, nationality, residency category and any dietary or mobility requirements before quotation. Included fees are calculated from those details, and no price is published until the trip is quoted. Wildlife sightings, weather and mountain views cannot be guaranteed. Avoid planning a tight onward flight around the estimated return time.
