About this safari
Follow a broad Kenya wildlife route before finishing on the north coast with this 12 day bush and beach holiday. Three nights in the Masai Mara provide two full wildlife days. One night at Naivasha is followed by two nights in Amboseli and one night each in Tsavo West and Tsavo East, before three nights in Watamu complete the journey.
The itinerary connects contrasting landscapes rather than promising the same experience in every park. The Mara offers open grasslands, Amboseli adds wetland and elephant habitats, and the two Tsavo parks reveal a different southern Kenya setting. Naivasha gives the road journey a quieter overnight pause, while Watamu offers two full days for independent coastal relaxation.
This is an extensive private road safari and includes long transfers. Beach excursions remain optional and are checked against tides, weather and personal suitability. Read about Tsavo West, Tsavo East and Watamu, then plan your lodge and beach choices.

Your safari itinerary
Open each day to view the route, activities, meals, transport and accommodation details.
Meet your guide in Nairobi and begin the journey toward the Masai Mara. The road crosses the Rift Valley and passes through the Narok region, with rest stops and an included lunch arrangement. Your guide explains the wider wildlife route while keeping the first day manageable around actual road progress.
Check into your lodge or permanent tented accommodation for three nights. If arrival and entry times allow, enjoy an introductory drive through nearby habitats. Otherwise, take time to settle in without rushing to fit in a short outing before closing. Dinner is included, and the next two days give ample opportunity for wildlife viewing without another long transfer.
Head out after breakfast for a day of exploring the Masai Mara. Your guide chooses tracks according to current animal activity, visibility and reserve rules, with time to stop when a sighting becomes interesting. Look for large mammals, predators and the smaller animals that often reward careful attention.
Lunch is included as a packed meal at an approved picnic area or through a lodge arrangement that fits the day’s route. Migration activity is seasonal and no crossing can be guaranteed. If you prefer a shorter outing and a midday rest, discuss that before leaving. Return for dinner and a second overnight at the same property.
Today gives you the freedom to revisit a promising wildlife area or try a different habitat within the reserve. Your guide can respond to yesterday’s sightings and your developing interests, whether you enjoy birds, animal behaviour or landscape photography. Extra time supports patient observation but never guarantees a particular animal.
Enjoy an included lunch in the agreed form, then continue viewing or take a lodge break where the route permits. Balloon flights and cultural visits require separate bookings and payments, with suitability confirmed before the programme changes. Return to your accommodation for dinner and the third Mara night, ready to move toward the Rift Valley tomorrow.
After breakfast, drive from the Mara area toward Lake Naivasha with planned comfort breaks. Lunch is included on the route or at your selected property according to the day’s timing. The changing scenery adds another side of Kenya to the journey without requiring a busy list of attractions on a transfer day.
Settle into your hotel or lodge and enjoy the remaining afternoon within its grounds. Follow staff guidance about wildlife near the lake and use approved viewing areas for bird watching. Boating and guided walking are optional services with separate costs and suitability checks. Dinner and overnight are at Naivasha before the southern journey.
Set off early after breakfast for Amboseli, travelling through the wider Nairobi corridor. This is a significant road transfer, with your guide arranging rest stops and lunch rather than promising an early park arrival. The estimated hours exclude traffic and weather delays, which can affect the final approach.
On arrival, check into your lodge or permanent tented room for two nights. No wildlife drive is promised after the transfer, keeping the evening free for settling in and resting. Dinner is included at the selected property. The following day is dedicated to Amboseli, so you can explore without packing again or driving to another destination immediately.
Begin with an early game drive in Amboseli. Your guide looks for elephant families, birds and other wildlife while explaining the link between the open plains and wetter habitats. When conditions are clear, Kilimanjaro may be visible in the distance, but the mountain’s appearance is never guaranteed.
Return for lunch and a rest before exploring again later in the day. The afternoon can focus on another habitat or a rewarding sighting from the morning, with patient stops and respectful distances throughout. This full day adds depth to the safari before the route continues to Tsavo. Dinner and a second overnight are at the same accommodation.
Have breakfast before leaving Amboseli for Tsavo West on the route appropriate to current conditions. Your driver coordinates comfort stops and lunch as the scenery changes toward hills, rocky ground and thicker vegetation. This gives the wildlife journey a different character from the more open landscapes already explored.
An afternoon vehicle safari searches accessible areas while your guide interprets the park’s habitats. A route near Mzima Springs may be discussed where practical, but a walking excursion is not included automatically. Wildlife visibility depends on cover, conditions and animal movements. Dinner and overnight are at your selected Tsavo West lodge or permanent tented property.
After breakfast, travel onward to Tsavo East with comfort breaks and an included lunch arrangement. Gate choice and the position of the selected accommodation determine the practical route, so your guide keeps the transfer schedule responsive to current conditions. The broader scenery provides a contrast to Tsavo West’s rugged setting.
Explore accessible tracks in the afternoon when arrival allows, looking for elephants and other wildlife. Water points and vegetation changes can help explain where animals gather, although particular sightings cannot be promised. Return to your lodge or permanent tented accommodation for dinner and the final safari overnight before heading toward Watamu.
Enjoy breakfast and begin the road journey toward Watamu. The most practical exit route is selected around your Tsavo accommodation and current gate and road conditions, with comfort stops and lunch included along the way. This is a transfer day, so no additional scheduled game drive is promised before departure.
Reach your beach hotel or resort and check in for three nights. Your safari vehicle service ends after the agreed drop off, leaving the following coastal days free for leisure. Ask the property about tides, swimming areas and the local conditions relevant to your stay. Dinner is included, marking the beginning of the beach portion of the holiday.
Have breakfast and spend the day relaxing at your selected accommodation and along suitable parts of the shore. There is no scheduled excursion or retained safari vehicle, so you can rest after the wildlife circuit. Use current local advice when choosing where and when to swim.
A separately booked marine outing can be discussed with a suitable operator, with fees, equipment, transfers and weather conditions checked before confirmation. Marine park entry is not included in the standard beach stay. Lunch and drinks are outside the half board plan. Return to the hotel or resort for the included dinner and another overnight in Watamu.
Begin with breakfast and choose how to enjoy your final full coastal day. You may prefer a quiet day at the property or ask about a separately arranged nature or heritage outing in the wider Watamu area. The day remains flexible so you can enjoy the coast without a demanding itinerary.
Any visit to Mida Creek, a heritage site or another attraction requires its own booking and payment, including transport and entry where applicable. Lunch is not included unless an upgraded meal plan is confirmed in writing. Dinner remains included at your beach accommodation. Check the following day’s airport transfer details before your final evening ends.
Enjoy breakfast and check out before the private transfer to Malindi Airport. Your collection time is arranged around the onward flight details supplied during planning, allowing for the selected hotel’s location and airport arrival requirements. If your departure is early, discuss breakfast with the property in advance.
The package ends at the airport drop off. Your flight from Malindi, any onward Nairobi connection, lunch and additional accommodation are excluded. A transfer to Mombasa Airport is a longer alternative that must be separately quoted before booking. Confirm the final departure point clearly so the last day is planned around your actual travel arrangements.
Know before you go
How the private safari works
Your road safari has a vehicle and driver guide reserved for your party. The safari vehicle is not retained during beach leisure days. Coastal airport transfers are separately arranged private services. Park access covers the scheduled visits only; private conservancies and special encounters are not included.
Accommodation and meal plans
Hotels, lodges and permanent tented rooms are selected during quotation. Properties, room types, beach access and any child rules are confirmed in writing before booking. Pools, sea views, family rooms and premium facilities are not promised unless specified. Safari days include the meals listed in the itinerary. Full beach days use half board, meaning breakfast and dinner; lunch, drinks and snacks are separate.
Road timing and arrival
Driving hours are estimates before rest stops, wildlife viewing, traffic or weather delays. Long transfer days may have no game drive on arrival. The itinerary begins with morning collection in Nairobi, so a late arriving flight may require an additional Nairobi overnight.
Coastal activities
Beach days are for independent leisure. Water sports, boat trips, snorkelling, heritage outings, marine park entry, spa services and extra transfers are optional additions. Their availability depends on operator arrangements and current conditions. Follow local swimming advice and use a suitable operator for any marine excursion.
Wildlife and weather
Wildlife sightings, migration herds, river crossings, flamingo numbers and mountain views depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Beach conditions and tides also vary. Discuss the season and your priorities when choosing dates.
Children and personal requirements
Provide children’s ages, room preferences, dietary needs and mobility requirements before confirmation. Child arrangements depend on the selected suppliers and activities. No universal free child policy or fixed minimum activity age is set for these packages.
Departure and flight connections
The final coastal airport drop off is the package end point. Final onward flights and a return to Nairobi are not included. Send your flight plans before booking so departure transfers and connection time can be checked. Any alternative airport or extra night is quoted separately.
