About this safari
Trade early wildlife mornings for slow ocean afternoons on this 8 day Kenya bush and beach safari. Two nights in Amboseli provide a full day for elephant observation, followed by one night in Tsavo West and one night in Tsavo East. The road journey then reaches Diani for three nights of beach relaxation before a private transfer to Ukunda Airport.
The safari portion uses a private vehicle and driver guide, with overnight stays in lodges or permanent tented rooms. Amboseli introduces open plains and wetlands, Tsavo West adds rugged scenery, and Tsavo East brings a broader dry landscape. At the coast, the pace changes deliberately: beach days are free for relaxation, with excursions available only as separately arranged additions.
Meals are full board during the safari, followed by breakfast and dinner during full beach days. No Nairobi return flight is included after the coastal drop off. Explore Amboseli, Tsavo East and Diani Beach, then plan your dates with Esperanza Tourism.

Your safari itinerary
Open each day to view the route, activities, meals, transport and accommodation details.
Meet your driver guide at an agreed Nairobi collection point and begin the journey toward Amboseli. The morning includes an introduction to the vehicle and route, followed by a comfort stop as the landscape opens beyond the city. Lunch is arranged along the way or at your selected accommodation according to the day’s progress.
After check in, an afternoon game drive introduces the park when entry timing allows. Look for elephant groups and grazing animals around the plains and wetter habitats, while your guide explains the role of water in the ecosystem. Kilimanjaro may appear if clouds clear. Return for dinner and the first of two nights in the Amboseli area.
Leave early for a wildlife drive while temperatures are cooler. Your guide looks for elephant families, buffalo, birds and other animals, choosing viewing positions that allow patient observation without disturbing them. Watch how the herds use the wetlands and compare the feeding behaviour of grazers and browsers.
Return to your accommodation for lunch and a quiet break before a second outing in the afternoon. This gives you a chance to revisit promising areas or explore a different habitat rather than repeating a fixed circuit. Wildlife and mountain visibility depend on natural conditions. Enjoy dinner and another night at the same lodge or permanent tented property before continuing toward Tsavo.
Have breakfast before travelling from Amboseli toward Tsavo West. Your driver selects the practical route for current road conditions, with a comfort break and lunch arranged at a suitable stop or accommodation. The scenery changes from Amboseli’s more open plains to a landscape of hills, rocky ground and thicker vegetation.
Once settled in, enjoy a vehicle safari through accessible parts of Tsavo West. Visibility can be more limited here, so the guide combines wildlife searching with interpretation of the landscape rather than promising particular animals. Mzima Springs may be considered where the route and current access allow, but no walk is guaranteed in the standard programme. Dinner and overnight are in the Tsavo West area.
After breakfast, continue toward Tsavo East, using the route and gates appropriate to the accommodation selected. Your guide keeps the transfer flexible around road conditions and arranges lunch without rushing the journey. The change in terrain provides a new setting for wildlife viewing, with open country and different vegetation from yesterday’s park.
An afternoon drive explores available tracks in search of elephants, giraffes and other wildlife. Animals sometimes carry the colour of the local earth on their skin, giving useful context to the familiar idea of Tsavo’s red elephants. Pause at interesting sightings and approved viewpoints when possible. Return to your lodge or permanent tented accommodation for dinner and your final safari night.
Enjoy breakfast before leaving the Tsavo East area for Kenya’s south coast. This is a travelling day, with comfort breaks and an included lunch arrangement on the route. The drive moves from wildlife country toward the coastal urban corridor and onward to Diani, with arrival time depending on traffic and the lodge’s position within Tsavo.
Check into your selected beach hotel or resort for three nights. Your safari vehicle service ends after the agreed coast drop off, and the following days are for independent leisure. Settle into your room, take in the ocean setting and receive the property’s advice about tides and swimming areas. Dinner is included this evening.
Wake without an early game drive departure and enjoy breakfast at your beach accommodation. The day is free to rest, read or spend time beside the ocean according to local conditions and the property’s advice. With no scheduled transport, you can choose your own rhythm after the safari road journey.
If you prefer an activity, ask about separately booked boat trips, snorkelling or other coastal experiences. Availability depends on weather, tides and the operator’s suitability requirements; none is included automatically. Lunch and drinks are paid separately unless your written quotation confirms an upgraded meal plan. Return to the resort for the included dinner and another night at Diani.
Begin with breakfast and decide how you would like to spend your final complete beach day. You may prefer another quiet day at the property or an independently arranged outing, leaving enough time to enjoy the coast without a busy schedule. Use the hotel team’s advice when choosing swimming areas or walking along the shore.
Any excursion, spa treatment, water sport or extra transfer is a separate service and should be confirmed before you set out. Lunch remains outside the standard half board arrangement. Enjoy an included dinner at your accommodation and check tomorrow’s airport transfer time, making sure your luggage and onward documents are ready for departure.
Enjoy breakfast and check out in time for the private transfer to Ukunda Airport. Your collection time is agreed around the onward flight you have arranged, with a sensible allowance for travel from the selected hotel and airport check in. If the flight departs early, ask the property about breakfast arrangements before the final evening.
The package ends at the airport drop off. Your flight from Ukunda, any Nairobi connection, lunch and further accommodation are not included. A Mombasa Airport transfer can be quoted instead if that is better for your international travel, but it must be arranged before confirmation because it involves a longer road journey.
Know before you go
How the private safari works
Your road safari has a vehicle and driver guide reserved for your party. The safari vehicle is not retained during beach leisure days. Coastal airport transfers are separately arranged private services. Park access covers the scheduled visits only; private conservancies and special encounters are not included.
Accommodation and meal plans
Hotels, lodges and permanent tented rooms are selected during quotation. Properties, room types, beach access and any child rules are confirmed in writing before booking. Pools, sea views, family rooms and premium facilities are not promised unless specified. Safari days include the meals listed in the itinerary. Full beach days use half board, meaning breakfast and dinner; lunch, drinks and snacks are separate.
Road timing and arrival
Driving hours are estimates before rest stops, wildlife viewing, traffic or weather delays. Long transfer days may have no game drive on arrival. The itinerary begins with morning collection in Nairobi, so a late arriving flight may require an additional Nairobi overnight.
Coastal activities
Beach days are for independent leisure. Water sports, boat trips, snorkelling, heritage outings, marine park entry, spa services and extra transfers are optional additions. Their availability depends on operator arrangements and current conditions. Follow local swimming advice and use a suitable operator for any marine excursion.
Wildlife and weather
Wildlife sightings, migration herds, river crossings, flamingo numbers and mountain views depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Beach conditions and tides also vary. Discuss the season and your priorities when choosing dates.
Children and personal requirements
Provide children’s ages, room preferences, dietary needs and mobility requirements before confirmation. Child arrangements depend on the selected suppliers and activities. No universal free child policy or fixed minimum activity age is set for these packages.
Departure and flight connections
The final coastal airport drop off is the package end point. Final onward flights and a return to Nairobi are not included. Send your flight plans before booking so departure transfers and connection time can be checked. Any alternative airport or extra night is quoted separately.
