About this safari
The 3-Day Amboseli Private Safari from Nairobi is a compact road safari focused entirely on Amboseli National Park. This gives travellers more wildlife time than an itinerary that tries to combine several distant parks within three days.
Amboseli is especially famous for large elephant herds moving between open plains and permanent wetlands. Buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, hyena, lion, cheetah and abundant birdlife may also be encountered. When cloud conditions allow, Mount Kilimanjaro rises dramatically beyond the park and creates one of Kenya’s most recognisable safari scenes.
The itinerary uses a private pop-up-roof 4x4 vehicle throughout. Day 1 includes the drive from Nairobi and an afternoon game drive, Day 2 is dedicated to morning and afternoon wildlife viewing, and Day 3 allows a final safari experience before returning to Nairobi.
Amboseli can also be combined with Tsavo West National Park or extended into a longer Kenya safari. For a customised route, use Plan My Safari.
Official park information is available from the Kenya Wildlife Service Amboseli National Park page.

Leave Nairobi in the morning and travel south toward Amboseli National Park. The road crosses open country before reaching the Amboseli ecosystem beneath Mount Kilimanjaro.
Arrive for lunch and check-in at the confirmed lodge or tented camp. Later, head out for your first afternoon game drive. Search the plains and swamp margins for elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and predators.
If the sky is clear, Kilimanjaro may appear beyond the park and provide excellent late-afternoon photography. Return to camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Start early when temperatures are cool and the chance of clear Mount Kilimanjaro views can be better. Explore Amboseli’s open plains and wetland areas with your private driver-guide.
The park is particularly rewarding for elephants, while permanent swamps also attract buffalo, hippo and numerous waterbirds. Depending on wildlife movement, your guide may include Observation Hill and other productive areas.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and a rest before a second afternoon game drive, or arrange a longer continuous game-viewing day where practical.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp.
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning safari drive as you leave the Amboseli ecosystem. The cooler hours can provide good elephant and plains-game activity and one last opportunity for mountain views.
Begin the road journey back to Nairobi with a lunch stop or picnic arrangement as confirmed in your quotation.
Arrive in Nairobi during the afternoon and transfer to your agreed hotel, residence or airport connection point.
