Overview

Masai Mara National Reserve Travel Guide

Masai Mara National Reserve is one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife landscapes. Rolling grasslands, river systems and open horizons support outstanding densities of plains game and predators, making the reserve rewarding in every season.

The Mara is closely associated with the annual wildebeest migration, particularly when herds move through the greater Mara ecosystem. Exact timing and river crossings are never guaranteed because they depend on rainfall, grazing and wildlife movement.

The reserve works well as the centrepiece of a Kenya safari and can be combined with Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru National Park and Nairobi. Browse our safari itineraries or plan a private safari.
