Overview

Lake Nakuru National Park Travel Guide

Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the most accessible wildlife areas in Kenya’s Rift Valley. The lake, surrounding grasslands, woodland and rocky escarpments create a compact but varied safari environment.

The park is especially important for rhino conservation and is also known for giraffe, buffalo, antelope, predators and a large variety of birds. Flamingo numbers change with water and feeding conditions, so the experience should never be described as a guaranteed flamingo spectacle.

Lake Nakuru combines naturally with Lake Naivasha and Lake Elementaita for a Rift Valley route.

For current park guidance, see the Kenya Wildlife Service Lake Nakuru National Park page.
